King John School wanted to be able to track every student’s mental health across a large school and for all their form tutors to have access to effective, targeted strategies to support students most at risk.

The issue to address

King John School wanted to be able to identify all students with mental health risks who may have been missed amongst a large population of 1,500. The leadership also wanted all their form tutors to have access to effective, targeted strategies to support students most at risk, to reduce the pressure they felt.

How STEER Tracking helped

King John’s completed the 10 min STEER Tracking assessment with more than 1,500 students on apps/ devices. They then ran a one hour staff meeting to give tutors time to generate 168 personalised STEER student Action Plans using the STEER automated software. The tutors then put in place the Action Plan strategies to support the 168 vulnerable students.

The outcome

“After successfully completing our first assessment we led our tutors through the process of Action Plan writing in a staff meeting. By the end of the hour session we had written 168 Action Plans! We have just completed assessment 2 with Year 11 and are delighted to be able to evidence a 92% positive impact of the Action Plans written.”
