Attracting Mr and Mrs Lee

08.03.18

Let me introduce you to Mr and Mrs Lee. Mr and Mrs Lee are looking at schools for their son Jimmy.

Every school they’ve looked at says they have exceptional pastoral care. They are confused because they can’t tell the difference. They all make the same claims : ‘exceptional pastoral care’, ‘pupil-centred’, ‘every child matters’, ‘dedicated tutors’, ‘excellent PSHE’, ‘school counsellor.’

So Mr and Mrs Lee wrote down four questions that really mattered, to ask each of the schools.

FIRST THEY ASKED, IF THEY SENT JIMMY HERE, HOW WOULD THE SCHOOL KNOW IF JIMMY WAS THRIVING?’

Three of the Head teachers said Jimmy would have weekly tutor meetings.

The Head of St Bart’s said this too. But she also showed them a pastoral technology which tracked how each child was steering the St Bart’s school road, so his tutor could check if Jimmy was thriving.

SECOND, THEY ASKED HOW THE HEAD COULD ASSURE THEM JIMMY’S TUTOR WOULD PROVIDE THE BEST INDIVIDUALISED SUPPORT FOR JIMMY.

The three Heads all said their tutors had excellent judgement and experience to guide Jimmy.

The Head of St Bart’s said this too. But she also explained how the tutor could use the expert guidance of specialists, through the technology, to signpost Jimmy as he progressed.

THIRDLY, THEY ASKED HOW THE SCHOOL WOULD SUPPORT JIMMY IF HE HAD AN UNEXPECTED SETBACK OR PROBLEM.

The three Heads all said they had counselling services for any pupils, where appropriate.

St Bart’s Head said this too. And she explained that by tracking Jimmy’s emotional development the counsellor would be better informed to support Jimmy and share appropriate guidance with his parents.

FINALLY, THEY ASKED HOW THE SCHOOL WOULD HELP JIMMY PREPARE FOR UNIVERSITY LIFE.

The three Heads all said their whole education prepared children for life.

St Bart’s Head said this too. But she also showed them how Jimmy would leave with his own personalised tracking app providing guidance to steer him on the university road.

WHEN THE TIME CAME, MR AND MRS LEE FILLED IN THE APPLICATION FORM FOR ONE OF THE SCHOOLS. WHICH ONE DO YOU THINK IT WAS?

Imagine if your school had a technology like that? Not to replace your pastoral care, but to support it and evidence it.

Parents like Mr and Mrs Lee are making ever-more informed choices about where to invest their limited resources in their son’s education. AS Tracking was designed to provide schools like St Bart’s with unparalleled early data, expert guidance and ongoing tracking of its impact. So that Mr and Mrs Lee can know their child will be securely signposted along the road of adolescence.

If your school has already adopted AS Tracking then you will be able to use it to both reassure your existing parents, and to attract new ones. As one parent wrote to their school, who were using AS Tracking to support their daughter,

I found this [AS Tracking] guidance so insightful and helpful and as well as reassuring. I feel that thanks to this “alert” we are able to better work with the school to help her and I am so impressed by the preemptive aspect of AS Tracking. It is fantastic!”
